Timecode Setup for Traktor Kontrol S4

This beginner's guide shows how to configure Traktor Kontrol S4 for use with Timecode.

Next to the Traktor Kontrol S4 controller you need:

  • turntables/CD player
  • Traktor Kontrol S4 Scratch Upgrade Kit, containing a license of Traktor Scratch Pro plus two timecode vinyl and two timecode CDs

The Steps from the Video at a Glance

  1. Connect turntables/CD players
  2. Turntable with Phono Level Signal = Input Mode Switch to Phono, otherwise to Line
  3. THRU/USB Switch to USB
  4. Do not connect a microphone, this would disable the RCA inputs of port D
  5. Preferences/Input Routing: route inputs of S4 to the decks
  6. Preferences/Decks: make Scope panel visible
  7. Deck letter context menu: set deck mode to Scratch Control
